TNLA Leadership Bootcamp: Hogue Landscape’s Newest Graduate

Hogue Employee, Yazayra Figueroa, has graduated from TNLA’s Leadership Bootcamp, a 6 month long course about leadership in the green-industry.

Each year, the TNLA Foundation brings together leaders from across the Texas green industry to step away from daily demands and focus on people, leadership, and the future of the industry. Our Project Estimator, Yazayra Figueroa, was selected to participate in this immersive program designed to develop confident, capable leaders who drive operational success from the ground up.

The Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA) believes that leadership development is a key investment in the future of Texas’ green industry. Through the TNLA Leadership Bootcamp, presented by the TNLA Foundation, professionals from across the state step away from day-to-day operations to engage in hands-on leadership training and gain exposure to every angle of the industry.

Yazayra Figueroa was nominated by Hogue Landscape Services leadership in recognition of her strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to professional growth. Her leadership potential and ability to represent our company made her an ideal candidate. With only 20 participants selected statewide, competition was high, and our entire team was thrilled when Yazayra was chosen to represent Hogue Landscape Services and continue growing as a leader.

This program was about more than professional development, it’s about building self-aware, confident leaders who are prepared to guide teams, navigate change, and make meaningful contributions to the industry. Through four in person sessions, intensive coursework, and one-on-one mentorship, participants developed practical leadership skills and learned how to apply them in real-world business environments. Yazayra completed the program with increased confidence and a renewed readiness to bring what she learned back to her role and team.

Throughout the program, participants traveled across Texas to gain firsthand exposure to the many sides of the green industry. From touring seedling operations to learning about plant transportation and logistics, the experience provided a comprehensive look at how each role contributes to the bigger picture. Yazayra was paired with a mentor who served as a trusted advisor and guided her throughout the process. Inspired by that experience, Yazayra looks forward to becoming a mentor herself for future program participants.

At the graduation ceremony, TNLA members from across the state gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the bootcamp participants. This marked the fifth year of the Leadership Bootcamp, and notably, the first year a female speaker addressed the graduating class. Hogue Landscape Services is incredibly proud that TNLA Leadership Bootcamp’s first female graduation speaker was our very own Yazayra Figueroa. Her peers and instructors collectively recognized her natural leadership, curiosity, and drive to continually expand her skill set.

From being selected into the program, to speaking at the graduation ceremony, Yazayra has continued to make Hogue Landscape Services so proud as she steps into the next chapter of her career. We are incredibly grateful for her hard work, dedication, and leadership, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
